I managed to do the Different Strokes project this time, with time to spare even! I liked the laces winding in and out and around, and thought I'd make that the main feature - but now I think I could have exaggerated them more... and I hoped the blues and browns I used (ultramarine, burnt sienna, Smalt and magnesium brown, all W&N) would granulate and make the boots look worn and scuffed, but they turned out looking pretty well-polished!

Karin's boots
I managed to do the Different Strokes project this time, with time to spare even! I liked the laces winding in and out and around, and thought I'd make that the main feature - but now I think I could have exaggerated them more... and I hoped the blues and browns I used (ultramarine, burnt sienna, Smalt and magnesium brown, all W&N) would granulate and make the boots look worn and scuffed, but they turned out looking pretty well-polished!
The look well-worn, and well-loved--i.e., buffed!--to me. Beautiful job--they're very 3d! The texture on the wood floor is very nice too.

Gorgeous boots, C! They do have a glow about them. The palette is warm - the subject so familiar. Reminds me of Oregon days...
