At last I've painted this scene from a Bergerac street from a photo I took two years ago - I just loved the display of saccharine colours and the way the hats and scarves almost seemed to be marching down the street. I nearly overworked it - did in fact, in some spots - but managed to control myself. This is watercolour on cold press aquarelle block - 55 x 46 cm
A reversal of the hats and 'falls' - an oil painting I did a couple of years ago, and which should have winged it's way to it's new home in Australia by now, but hasn't yet (sorry V & P!) due to logistical problems - it's big!.. 101 x 76 cm on stretched canvas. I do apologise to the hat-wearers for some unflattering renderings - I wasn't really trying for strong likenesses, but for a moment in time in front of the timeless Victoria Falls (this was taken from the Zambian side, so a less conventional view as has been remarked on by some).

Love both of your paintings. The hats and scarves are so colorful, bright and inviting that I just want to reach out and try them on!
Well done. I remember when you saw that row of hats and scarves, and itched to paint them on the spot. Was hoping you'd get round to it, and I have to say the painting is fantastic!!
Thanks for your visit, Teresa - that itch to paint that stand went on a long time, had to do it!
What great reminders of two beautiful holidays. The hats and scarves are so full of fun and frolic. The person who arranged them like that had a creative eye for sure, and caught your attention like a bee to a flower! VP said she painted a Bergerac hat picture too, where is it. VP? Clever of you CG to post the Vic Falls one along with this - good to see it again.
Such lovely holidays! I saw VP's hat painting as a work in progress and it was looking super - am looking forward to seeing it finished too on kitchentable!
My hat picture is there now.
I got impatient and took photos in really poor conditions, so may have to do more later.
