Early anenomes

It's early July and already spring anenomes are blooming - these are some rather raggedy ones that I picked just before they lose their petals. A daffodil has also poked it's head up out of a pot, and the azaleas are almost over... all rather worrying, much as I appreciate the splashes of colour in the middle of winter. I'd rather the seasons kept to their more predictable, reassuring cycle and Spring arrived when it's expected.

Oh that is weird. Are you having mild winter weather? The splash of colour is nice though, and your early anenomes in the little green vase cheer the spirit, provoking my mood to reach for my watercolours RIGHT NOW, when I've just put them away! We're off to Austin today for a wedding. A friend is coming to pet sit, as it's so hot and thunderstorms are forecast. Neither of our dogs cope well with that!

We are having mild weather...tonight the first minus temperatures are expected so maybe that'll slow them down.
Hope to see some of your w/c's soon - and weddings are good for sketching too!

Yes, you never know what you'll be getting in the "seasons" anymore! I love how you painted the centers of the anemones, and how they're all turned in different directions!

Thanks Laura - those are very mobile anenomes! - the heads move around constantly searching for the brightest light... by the time I had finished painting them they looked completely different to this.

Anenomes are among my most favourite flowers, and I didn't plant any this year. We were away at the crucial time. Will save this and enjoy yours! I don't know what is normal any more. We are having unusually cold weather actually... even a frost yesterday! And good rains. I love your green glass vase.

It just got really cold! I found the little Scottish thistle vase at the flea-market at Checkers parking lot - so sweet - I think little vases are my new collection item.
Glad you're having good rains!

Your anemones are so beautiful and aren't you lucky to have a splash of spring in the middle of winter? You've captured their colour beautifully!

These are just so perfectly delightful! I exclaimed, "WOW!" when the image came into view, even though I'm sitting her by myself and try not to talk to myself (though having cats usually saves me from that...but then talking to cats could be considered just as daft, I suppose...)
