Father Christmas aka Santa Clause brought me an early present of a brand new, zjooshy little Canon Ixus camera, after being a bit grumpy about me breaking my last one (Thank you Santa xx!). So I took these to show you I'm not making this up about the jacarandas in our much aligned city. I read that a famous food/travel writer/chef whose name escapes me, wrote in his South African tour book, "Johannesburg is hot, very very hot, Johannesburg is not, very very not"! So this is to show that it is, actually, sometimes! We've had a huge storm since I took these, so already they're looking a bit sparser.
I'm trying to paint some more small oils, with these as a subject, still for the Arts & Crafts Fair, but nothing I really wish to share with anyone just yet...

Gosh they are just divine, aren' t they? Then they will have those groovy pods. I think they are so spectacular because they get their flowers before the new leaves come through, so there is no dilution-at-a-distance of the colour by the green leaves. Well done Santa. Give him a big kiss from me!
Mmmmmmm - gorgeous!! Thanks for posting these. Enjoy your new camera and hold on tight to it.
I will - strap firmly around wrist now! I spelt Claus wrong I think. How mortifying! It still looks wrong, whichever way I spell it. But he says thanks for the big X!
Wow! Those are spectacular!
If I was visiting I would love to bring home one of those little paintings!
I love the top painting, just lovely and only 9.8 by 9.8 inches?
