I really wanted to post these on Valentine's Day, but I was just too pooped after the second day of this year's
Greg Kerr painting course, 'The Dinner Party'. For our preparations over the last few months we had to design and make Valentine cards for five artists of our choosing, plus one for ourselves (how difficult was that!). It involved much research, reading, thinking and copying. We had to put in something of the artist, something of ourselves and something about Valentines. It was a very clever way to totally involve us in our chosen subjects - I was amazed at how Mr Bacon kept me awake at night! I went a bit overboard on the hearts, lace and flowers - but I thought if I'm going to do this I might as well go the whole hog. So without further ado, here are my tributes to Georgia, Wayne, Francis, Marc, Alice and me!

These are fabulous Cathy!
Thank you for stopping by my blog and your kind comment. I'm really happy with the straight painting sketches too.
Cathy, these paintings/cards/wonderful conceptions are glorious! well done! How beautifull and poignantly you have captured the artists. Is Alice your Mother? much love to you my friend. wendy
See what happens when you don't think things through or Google them first!!
obviously not your mother. But what a character and artist. love you Cath. miss you. Wendy
Dear Wendy - thanks for your visit - I thought about doing my mom or my sister, but felt too protective, apprehensive, or something! Love and miss you too, hope to see you soon.
Impressive work Cathy! I can easily understand how much you must have thought about this late at night! Way out of your (and my) comfort zone!! I'm convinced there's always something of that "out-of-comfort-zone" work that will stick and appear in your other works... I wonder what that is... ;-)
awww those are insane! the second last is my fave! xx

Thanks for this blog, Cathy, your work is great. I'm also sometimes one of Greg's students, when he manages a workshop at The Crags, so it's great to see what the rest of you regulars are up to. Thanks also for introducing me to Urban Sketchers, which I now also follow. I've carried a little sketch book in my bag for years and love to sit and scribble. Greetings from the Garden Route, Cherie Dobie
