Wonders of Wimbledon

What a fantastic Wimbledon Men's Final!...I could hardly bear to see either of them lose, but lose 'our' Roger did (his mom is South African you know!). I'd been spending odd moments during the week trying to get down some action drawings, but doing them in live time I found quite impossible, though I quite like the squiggly attempts on bottom left, of Nadal - just waiting for the serve, hardly moving! We're lucky to have the stop-and-rewind feature on our TV that you can pause, so I drew some of the real mid-flight poses that I could land on without complete distortion. I didn't draw during the final...much too stressful on top of the other tension...

Yeah! It was an incredible match wasn't it? At the end after N.won, mouthy old Johnny Mac sounded tearful when he interviewed RF. The sketches are wonderful - and so clever of you to use the STOP feature on your telly. I think we have it too, but I never thought to use it like that. Jolly good idea. RF & N were poetry in motion - that entire game. Great subjects for your pencil, CPG.

Oh, look at your figures Cathy...they are wonderful! You could give me lessons. I'm reliving yesterday by looking at them! It was such an incredible match and for the first time I wish there could be a tie. I admire them both for their tennis, sportmanships, respect for the game and their opponents, their behavior as people and tennis players. I was ecstatic that Nadal won en heartbroken that Fed lost!

Aren't they just brilliant in every way - real ambassadors for humanity. Wish we could have heard Mac's commentary, we just saw his mouth moving in the press box!

These are wonderful figures! You've really captured the "poses"--I'm astounded!

...with the great help of the Pause button, thanks Laura!

They are fabulous, Cath. Could be no-one else! Aren't Nadal's arms beautiful???
I only saw the first 2 sets, which were obviously not the best ones, though still phenomenal. The time difference is such that we'd have been up all night. I hope Federer will continue to entertain us all. It has been almost too easy for him until this year.

Well he said he'll be back next year, thankfully...

Wonderful drawings Cathy - and what a great match to try and record. That one's going to down in history for more reasons than it was the latest a men's final had ever finished!

A pal of mine was actually there and watched it - in the rain and without the pause button!

That must have taken some dedication to sit through all the interruptions, but I bet they were really glad they did - thanks Katherine.

I'm commenting a bit after the fact, but I'm back-tracking your posts from the Virtual sketch Date post.

I watched the tennis match and it was amazing. I actually experienced 'withdrawals' when it was ended. I didn't want it to ever stop. What an event!

Your figure of Nadal on the rightedge of the sketches, looking up waiting for the ball, is perfect.

Oh. I did get to hear what John McEnroe had to say, but it didn't add much. There were times I wished he would just hush and watch. :)

Thanks Leslie, for backtracking! It was terrific - I think a long time till we see a match anything like that again.
