I scouted my garden for some appropriately red, white and blue flowers, and this lily (don't know it's name?) agapanthus and star jasmine obliged in joining the celebrations!

Congratulations USA!
We woke up to Barack Obama's acceptance speech this morning and have been moved and enthralled by the enthusiasm and joy of the crowds of people and the dignity and grace of the speeches of both the winning, and the losing candidate. Congratulations and best wishes to the new president, and all of the USA on an inspiring democratic event.

I went to bed after listening to it last night - and drawing a queue while I watched the results come in!
I thought they were both really terrific speeches - it fills me with hope and optimism..........
Hi Cathy,
Thank you for the beautiful bouquet and good wishes... such a thoughtful gesture!
Re: brining a turkey....hope it adds to your Christmas feast.... let me know how you like it!
Me too, Katherine - it feels like a whole new world! (I tried to stay awake, but couldn't make it)
It's a pleasure Teresa - and I will!
I'm watching the reactions around the world this morning, and am as moved as I was by Obama and Biden last night. After these misguided years of "going it alone" in the world, it feels so unbelievably good to enjoy the figurative embrace of people around the world. It's like a homecoming!
Thanks for your thoughtful wishes, C.
Agapanthus are an excellent choice!
The tie that Barack Obama's wore for his acceptance speech last night was PURPLE! In a past interview I remember him talking about red + blue = purple. A healing thought - symbolic of the country coming together under his leadership. I hope so! I'm sure he'd like your jacarandas...!!
Laura - this brings back reminiscences of our momentous elections 14 years ago - from pariah to proud...
Gillian, I saw Oprah talking about purple in the happy throngs... may it come to pass!
The red white and blue of the flowers is so bright and fresh - like a summer breeze. Great symbolism for a big change in America and probably the world.
