They are local scenes from my neighbourhood streets and shopping centres - pavement (sidewalk?) salesmen and a woman hailing a taxi. Suzanne wanted to know more about the hand signals - all I can say is that its confusing! These are a few that I've identified, though in some circumstances they can mean somewhere else entirely! There are others, and I suspect more are invented all the time.

Your urban paintings are refreshing and delightfully done. What an inspiration!
Wow! Thanks for taking the time to work out some of the hand signals - really interesting!
As for doubling up your posts on Urban Sketchers and here, I have a suggestion. You might want to look at ghostschool's posts. He posts at Urban Sketchers, Flikr, his own blog and, I'll bet does something at Twitter and elsewhere - not that you should - but my point is that you're not reaching the same audience at US as you would through your own blog, necessarily. Anyway, see here: http://www.ghostschool.co.uk/ and then his posts at US. Might help you determine what works best for you and how much time you can afford.
In any case, love what you do wherever you do it!
Sandy, thank you! The inspiration is mutual!!
Suzanne, that is really helpful, thanks very much. I'm flapping a bit at all the options - and trying to balance computer time with sketching, painting and living time. Will check out ghostschool...
I was happy to do a bit of research on the hand signals - they've mystified me for years now - the mist has lifted slightly!
I love the way you divided, and filled, the space in the top painting; and the woman hailing a taxi is wonderful--the way you've used the flow of the paint to enhance her shape!
RE: "miss anything"? Absolutely not! Keep them coming. Paintings are wonderful... fresh, crisp and yummy color. I'm envious!
Your urban sketches are just wonderful! You do a great job of composing busy street scenes and the colors are lovely!
