Voting on Earth Day

A really scrappy sketch in between a lot of other things - this done yesterday in the voting queue at our local primary school. Standing up, cold and shuffling along (and trying to be unobtrusive), it's not my best effort, but - no excuses! It was a good-natured and exciting sort of day mostly - today hopes soaring and diving as the results trickle in. We all know who will be the gov, and President, but behind that the race is quite interesting.
It was Earth Day as well, and though I didn't manage to paint anything appropriate, I did plant some bulbs and pansies, which I'm sure will bring inspiration come Spring.
I've got some commissioned drawings for HIV/Aids education in Lesotho to do, which will keep me busy, so may have some gaps in between postings for a while. See ya!

I don't know how you can do all that while shuffling along. A blooming marvel. As you say a foregone conclusion. Let's hope low expectations result in better outcomes than high ones and disappointments. It will be interesting.I have not honoured Earth Day... will get in to my patch of earth at teh weekend I hope.

It's a lovely sketch! Somehow you manage to keep things light and airy while still getting quite a bit of detail in there. How do you do that? :-) I detail something to death!

This is a great reminder of yesterday and, as of now, we are still waiting for the final results for our new Premier down here! So it is very exciting indeed.

Have been watching the news with interest re. Vote Day. Even though its all very predictable - yes, it is still exciting - lets hope Zuma will be strongly influenced for good - by Obama perhaps... And that he will set the record straight about all the "false" accusations of his past; be highly motivated to DO RIGHT in his job. Lovely sketches, as always, C. I watered my potted plants - does that count for Earth Day? :) Magnolias are starting to come out here!! :) :)

I wish my "good" sketches were as good as your "scrappy" ones!

Let's not be too hard on ourselves (as tempting as it always is). We (and you) know what you're capable of and this is a delight both in the composition (love the outline of the fellow with his back to us on right) and personality. Each person and the sketch itself has personality. That idea of perfection is more of an illusion than the image on the page. Enjoy your commission!
