Jacaranda time

It doesn't seem a year ago that I was painting jacarandas in flower, but here they are again. This is in our garden - it jostles for position with a yellowwood, a stray little privet and a tall cyprus. We've had lots of wind, hail and rainstorms this year so the blossoms look a little sparser than usual.

  4. When this page appeared on my screen I had to sigh and smile. The colors are so brilliant (in both meanings of the word: they glow on the page and your smart choices of color mixtures and how they dance across the page). Gorgeous! And just what I needed as a soothing pick-me-up.

  5. Hi Penny - great to have you back from your travels!

Thanks Linda - keep on trying - or playing... maybe trying too hard is the problem!?

Thanks Debbie - and I love your fungi!

Hi Jana - glad it gave you a lift, hope you're much better.

  7. I love this.
I LIVE on Jacaranda Drive in Florida, USA and although we do not have any Jacaranda on our street (go figure) there are a few in town that sometimes blossom in March. When they do, there is a traffic jam while people drive to see them!!!!
I so enjoyed seeing this one!!!

  9. I remember your Jacaranda paintings last year... I'd never heard of a Jacaranda and Googled it to learn about it. You're educating me! ;-)

    Gorgeous colors again..... !

  10. How lucky to have such colour this time of the year - our winter season is setting in and the autumn colours disappearing with pavements and roads inundated with squidgy fallen leaves.

  11. There's no doubt about it Cathy - Johannesburg (and Pretoria) are very pretty at this time of the year (despite all the roadworks for your new Gautrain!) Your jacaranda is stunning and a beautiful reminder of Spring.

  12. Beautiful! Funnily enough, I've taken loads of photos of jacarandas, but never painted one! I think I'm scared... They are so beautiful!!!! You are lucky to have one in your garden!
They are almost over in Pretoria, and I won't be here next year to see them. sigh.
