Jacaranda Time

It's that time of year 💜 again (my last post before the looong silence was done in jacaranda season) and the 'Monties' Thursday sketching group returned to Villa Arcadia today, where the gardens and avenues are shrouded in purple.

I brought my Hahnemühle sketchbook, which I'm trying to stick to watercolour only for - but did bring out a lilac wax crayon to attempt to reproduce the soft haziness, and the almost neon glow of the blossoms in the shadows.

Beautiful spring sunshine, beautiful buildings, rocks, jacarandas, company... beautiful morning altogether 💜🌸💜

What a lovely place to paint! And I so missed your jacaranda paintings - hope you do return, but I’ve found it’s so hard to take the time for the blog when it’s just easy to do FB or Instagram instead - we have become instant people and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Hope to see more of your paintings and I will take the time to comment if you take the time to post :).

Hi Rhonda! So lovely to hear from you - it's been a long minute! Yes, instant is very desirable when it seems like each day goes faster than the last. I've figured out a way to blog from my phone, without the need to transfer images to the computer/laptop (long days of scanning, editing, composing!) so hope to keep it up🤞🏼
