Polly Wolly Doodle all the Day

Lots of doodles going on while I'm busy trying to put a plan or two together - very difficult for some of us you know! I did a doodle of the 'cloud' sculpture on the 'Different Strokes from Different Folks' project, though I haven't sent it in, as it is just a doodle from memory, and a whimsical thought I had about it.
Then a doodle after looking at one of Raoul Dufy's little watercolour and ink landscapes that I have on a postcard...
then just a doodle...
then yesterday
I popped in at the Everard Read Gallery to have a look at a small exhibition of some of Lucian Freud's etchings - mostly portraits - and came home and did a pen & ink self-portrait doodle, which is quite frightening and I hope it doesn't look too much like me, but I'm afraid it kind of does. I think my nose and mouth do that when I'm concentrating!

I'll let you know when my plans come together, and I'll stop all this doodling and do some proper painting.

Gosh, I haven't heard - or thought - of "Polly Wolly Doodle all the day" for years! I remember singing it as a kid growing up in the UK LOL!! Just my opinion here...but I think doodles are probably good for you.....

Yes - I want to believe that doodles ARE good for us!! I was thinking I should at least post a doodle or two... Don't need any pressure that it has to be "proper art..." (Sweat, itch, crack jaw!!)

I for one - think your doodles are wonderful - and encourage me to lighten up and have some fun

Hello - I visited your blog for the first time via Teresa's blog. Nice to chat to someone in South Africa. My friend's son lives in Jo'burg but this is the first blog I have read from there. I love your doodles - a bit like writing, it is easy to doodle rather than get down to it, particularly if you are undecided what course to take. Love your self portrait too.

I don't know why, Teresa, but songs rumble around in my subconscious for ever, and a word like doodle - or buttercup - or sweetpea - just sets me off, belting forth!

GPH - doodles are good - they must be, they got me through school, uni, meetings... :o) I love to see whatever you post - photos or funny Olive stories, whatever - nobody is expecting high Art!

Hello Weaver - nice to have you visit. I could doodle my life away I'm sure, but am trying to get a grip and progress. A farmer's wife living on the Yorkshire Dales sounds idyllic - will pop in and visit soon!

I love it... gave me a giggle and I needed it tonight. Polly Wolly Doodle all the day.... it's been a million years since I sang that little diddy. I agree with Tersa... doodles are good for the soul.

Lovely doodles, Polly. That song puts me right back in my Year 1 class at school in Leander Avenue, Bulawayo! We used to sing it. Very non-PC now! Your face is sweet and I see you there, but too lined to be you!The bride and her barrage balloon are enchanting. Doesn't it look like a wonderful sculpture?

ooh, I'm trying to think of all the words, VP, and can't think why it's not PC... I guess it was about the South USA... Louisiana - we sang it in all innocence, anyway! The more I scrutinise my face, the more lines become apparent, unfortunately - self-portraiture a way of coming to terms with reality!
A wonderful sculpture indeed - must be fascinating to see all those distorted reflections.
