SketchCrawl - with company!
Yesterday was a great day!... the 28th World Wide SketchCrawl and, at last, there was a group of us instead of just me! I'd heard from John Philip through this blog, and he being of an age and mind to know how to do these things, started a Facebook Event to invite interested people to come along to the Emmarentia botanical gardens to meet and sketch. We had about ten sketchers and a couple more to provide encouragement and model material, and we had a lovely afternoon, in spite of rather chilly weather and dry, sparse wintry gardens to inspire us. When there are more resulting sketches posted, I'll put a link here to the others that were done on the day. I tried to record the occasion by putting as many of my fellow sketchers in mine as possible. We are planning to make it a regular gathering, with many others who couldn't make it keen to join in when they can. Another reason to celebrate, the third anniversary of A Sketch in Time was also yesterday - who would have thought I'd keep anything going that long!?

Fantastic to have a group to work with. As usual Cathy, you capture the moment so beautifully.
It's great that you finally got a group together -- and what a great composition they've found themselves in! The 'sparse wintry garden' completes it perfectly.
I love this colourful sketch! I hope you have lots of these sketchcrawls ahead - lucky you!
Many returns of your Happy Blog Birthday, Cathy. I'm not at all surprised that you've kept it going so long and nobody is going to let you give it up now - you have A Following :)
I love this painting too. Having a sketching group together ahead of the Spring holds promise of fun times ahead as the weather warms up.
Well done, Cath. So happy that you had a good day and enjoyed the company of your fellow J'bg sketchers. Looking forward to seeing the results. Your bright and cheerful sketch tells the happy story!
And... Happy 3rd birthday blog!!
(I deleted my comment above because I forgot to say HPY B'day.)
Lots of love XXX
The sketchcrawl seems like so much fun. And you have a terrific sketch of your fellow sketchers!
Wow--this is wonderful! I always marvel at how easily you seen to whip out these complicated groups of people settings--love this!
What wonderful support from local artists and for you to record them in your amazing 'sketch in time' style. Do they recognize themselves? So pleased for you there are going to be regular gatherings as its so much fun working with other artists. Just love your work and its spontaneous approach to moments in life.
Liz, Charlene, Felicity, Robyn - thanks, it was so enjoyable to be out with a group, may there be lots more outings!
Gillian - was wondering if you were getting as dotty as me when I saw another comment from you :) Thanks very much! XXX
Thanks Carol, Sue and Joan - I did wonder at myself trying to put everybody in, but know it's a good way to remember this momentous day! Joan, I think they at least could tell which ones were them!
Congratualtions on your third anniversary...and as I said...STILL going strong, if not stronger! Now isn't that inspiration?
a lovely sketch of your get together and yes, a great idea to do it regularly...I am going to try and get something together here in Tours as well...hardest part will e to find the sketchers.
Ronell
What a beautiful job you've done on this!
Cathy, I am so surprised I didn't leave a comment. I thought I did so here it is. You are wonderful. I love your drawings. I could look at your paintings everyday and never get tired of them.
You've done a great job on this... how nice to capture your fellow sketchers... a nice way to preserve those memories!
And Happy 3rd Blogiversary to you!
Great results Cathy.
Congrats on the 3rd Anniversary, may you continue to inspire all of us who pop by with your fabulous art.
BTW is it quiet now without all the World Cup hullabaloo???
Ronell - hope you can get a group together, it took ages for me to find other sketchers, and then actually, John did all the ground work - try a facebook event!
Thank you Casey, Pat and Teresa
Sue - I've only just realised that you, and Sue of Whidby Island sketchers, are one and the same!..
it is quiet, we've been missing the visitors and the colour - I've just taken the flag off my car after I decided it was looking a bit tattered and sad... sigh ;)
that looks fun :-)
who'd have thought that 'superman' would have turned up ;-)
happy birthday 'sketch in time' :-)
I'm glad you got a good group this year. And congratulations on your bloggerversary!!!
I'm pleased there were lots of sketchers to join you that day. I'd love to join you one day too, if it's possible!
