Tennis Rules, OK?

A lot of time spent in front of the TV watching tennis lately and when I'm not too wrapped up in the match to think of it, I sometimes pick up a pen and try and scribble down the action. This time without rewinding and stopping on frames as I did four years (four years!!) ago in this post, I hardly looked at the paper as my pen tracked the movement resulting in some strange but descriptive postures. Not very flattering to the players, but fun!
Much as it would be nice for a Brit to at last win, in this Jubilee and Olympian year, I have to stay loyal and yell once again.... Go Roger!!

I was sooo happy for Roger!!! It won't stop the naysayers from talking about his age and the power of Nadal and Djokovik but I love that he's Number 1 again :) These sketches are fantastic!!!

These poses are just so good! How clever of you to sketch while watching the tennis! I chose my favourite here: second row, second from the left!

Hi Sadami - I saw your skating sketches - great! I love doing these fast figures for a change from more carefully drawn ones.

Hi Rhonda, me too, though I warmed a lot more to Murray after he let his guard down a bit and showed some feeling at the end there.

Thanks Marie - don't know about clever, but entertaining in the early stages. My fave is second from left in the bottom row :-)

I'm a Nadal fan and from Uk so I was obliged to cheer for Murray. Federer after mid-set 2 was/is just too good.

Love the sketches. I had sketchbook & pens ready but just spent the time shouting at the tv or holding my breath :)

Hi Sue - I love Nadal too - always in a dilemma who to shout for! I couldn't sketch during the final either, much too tense - I did these in some of the run-up matches.

I rather watch you sketch than watch the tennis, Cathy. Terrific sketches.

Wonderful blog. Just love your sketches.

Oh yes, that one too! These poses are so well captured! You know, you will do very good with a little girls' ballet class, those clumsy little feet and bums!

Lovely. These are filled with such movement. The NY Open will be starting soon here. So many of my friends and family love watching tennis. Me, not so much. But I do like seeing your sketches.
