Sushi Sisters

The other night our daughters were presented with all the ingredients by their super shopper-and-chef Dad, and requested to make second daughter's specialty, sushi, for our supper.
They did an amazing job and brought in all their sushi-eating experience, and culinary and artistic talents, and made what looked like a mountain of fish, rice and veggie creations... my sketches really don't do them justice! They were absolutely stunning to look at...

...and we managed to polish them all off, bar four little rolls (I'm sorry, I don't know all the names given to the individual morsels), which their sibling had for lunch the next day. So scrumptious!!

Sushi aside - good grief there are a lot of 'S's cropping up in this post! - I'm dashing through everything that I'm painting or sketching so fast lately, it's making me feel quite unsettled and jittery. I have so many ideas on what I would like to paint and do, a very pleasant change from a year or so ago, when I couldn't think of a thing!... but I need to slow down and take a more considered, leisurely and contemplative approach. I'm busy spring-cleaning my studio - a major undertaking - so I can get back in there and settle down to some serious work, I hope!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! The sushi wasn't for your special b'day dinner? Hope you've had a wonderful day today - drawing to a close for you, but the start of another hot, humid one for us. Beautiful sketches and w/c of your beautiful girls, and yummy food. C, V and R would have loved to have shared those creative morsels. I'm learning to like them now - and Stef - well... he's got a LONG way to go before he ASKS for sushi!

Thanks Sis, it wasn't meant to be b'day dinner... a few days early, but I think I'll take it as such, because the birthday's been a bit of a washout, starting with news of another burglary at the office...at least we had a lovely weekend!

Oh I have just looked at the DATE!! Happy, Happy birthday, with all of your precious family at home. What a lovely feast and what lovely sketches. We'd all be there to share, though ATP swears raw fish makes his brain so active he can't sleep.
Your work has grown heaps this year, with doing so much, and having it foremost in your mind; obvious excitement. I don't think you need to worry about the quality!I hope the burglary was not too disastrous .. what a pain. Much love from us all

Thanks 'nother Sis! I wish all the raw fish would do it's alleged wonders on my brain... lost all the monitors at KP, but they couldn't get the computer boxes out the safes - such a pain

A pox on them!
Very inconsiderate of BFG to make the boxes so secure.
