Doctor's rooms

Sitting with my daughter in the doctor's waiting room, I sketched surreptitiously - as I wrote on the page, the head with the hat isn't real, it's a painted bust on the counter. Not a very South African scene - this must be typical of anywhere in the world - but a necessary part of life, to those of us lucky enough to have good medical facilities and care.
My daughter had sudden extreme vertigo, for which we had to go off to a specialist, who tossed her head around to dislodge a crystal that had wandered into the wrong bit of ear bone loops. A couple of days later, she was fine!

It could, indeed, be anywhere. I've heard of waiting rooms that have knitting squares that anyone can pick up and add to. Was that from you? I'm glad the patient is better... that sort of giddiness is not nice.Super sketch by the way XX

Cathy, I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying your Urban Sketch things. I was here yesterday to tell you so and got distracted by that incredible wilted hibiscus, and then forgot to comment on that, too! Anyway - well done!!

I wish you were coming to the Reid workshop, also. I don't anyone who is going to be there.

Glad to hear the daughter is okay.
I've had odd dizzy spells now & then, very weird. SO now I'll assume mine was a crystal lodging somewhere in my inner ear too! These are lovely sketches, as always - love the hibiscus ones too. We have one that has bloomed in our back garden already. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to BFG!!

Thanks everybody for your comments - my computer 'fell over' after I'd posted this, and it was great to get back to all of this feedback.
Viv - no, it wasn't me, but what a good idea (if you aren't busy sketching that is)!

Carol - you're sure to meet some nice new artist friends at the workshop - enjoy!

Gin - BFG says Thanks!

Cathy, this is just so charming---I wish I could think of a less hackneyed word. In your recent documentary sketches your vibrant engagement with your own life really comes through loud and clear. This sketch is a perfect example of your careful observations and your wonderful drawing skills.

Thanks Liz - I can't keep up either! And with the Aussies here things are going to slow down a lot!

Laura, you must know you are to me an icon of sketching, drawing, painting brilliance, so I value that so much.

Zooman, thank YOU - its great to know that I sometimes inspire, as I am so often inspired by others

And Bodiley, as you know, I like yours too!
